Magha Masam

Namaskarams devotees, Magha Masam is one of the auspicious months in the Hindu calendar. "Ma" means never/not present, Agham means evil, suffering, grief. The meaning of Magham is free from evils, sins or griefs.  This month is the second month in the Uttarayana Punya Kala as per our ancient calendars, where the Sun/Surya is in Makara Raasi and the Vasantha rutu starts on the fifth day of this month. This is one of the best months for spiritual practices as this month is regarded as the dawn of the devas. This month has various divine special days like Vasanth Panchami, Ratha Saptami, Bhishma Ashtami, Madhwa Navami, Maha Shivaratri, Magha Purnima, and Bhishma Ekadasi.

Surya/Sun

Surya/Sun was born to Sage Kashyapa and his wife Aditi and, Sun is the Aatmakaraka in one's horoscope, which signifies Soul, eyes, skin, and overall health.
